dizzyness and loss of balance at times,,,,ok,Check your occipital region, must be very sensitive, because the nerve was stimulated by soft tissue's tension, will have these symptoms, try good acupuncture, don't worry...

Hi ,Just read your post...i also have cervical spondylosis/psuedoarthrosis c5-c6
Im having surgery tomorrow morning at 7:45 am   posterior fusion with hard collar..plates,screws,wiring to lift pressure off lower back, bone graft taken from my hip from the back of hip, with the hard ware there too. In 2005/6 (dont remember)  (another probllem lol im having) anyways.. had anterior fusion same set up as this .....didnt fuse..all sytoms started coming back! Never felt it worked anyways...so this time about 4 weeks was sent to spinal cord/back specialist...he looked at all my scat scans/bone scans/mri's,and xrays....said didnt fuse and now you have spondylosis/psuedoarthrosis,and this is what needs to happen!  This is a whole new doctor from last time...he feels this could of happened because i was still smoking, last doctor never told me anything ....fusion dont fuse if your still smoking after surgery...i have to take blame myself too, i should of read more, look things up better...but i didnt and here i am tonight......pretty nervous about tomorrow, but hoping for the best, i have to be up for 3:00am to start my shower and head off.      so I think im babbling again..sorry,i think you should look into this ...and dont let your self get worse,,,sometimes you really need to push those doctor and get yourself help.  I hope you start to feel better,be careful i know how you feel and i will get back to you ....as soon as i can    Take care    Tracy

Winnie, I am a physical therapist and as such, I have to say, you should seek the advice of a qualified medical provider (perhaps a spine neurosurgeon?) regarding the symptoms you're having, or a spine specialist nonsurgical MD. However, I can say, dizziness and loss of balance are unlikely to be generated by C4-6, whereas C0-1,C1-2 or C2-3 dysfunction are highly likely to cause this condition. Do you have a  limitation of range of motion turning your head side to side? Is head position/movement related to causing these symptoms? You could have a situation where degeneration of C4-6 is causing problems higher up the spine, which can cause abnormal activation of nerves that can give you some of these strange symptoms. Could also cause some changes in the middle ear (the pinking you speak of). Vestibular dysfunction (BPPV) is another less likely issue. However, one must also be able to rule out possibility of vertebral artery involvement causing dizziness before trying any aggressive treatment. I would recommend seeking medical advice to ensure you don't have an unstable upper cervical spine that could cause tension on this vital artery to your brain. As an aside, beward supposed "Dr's" who offer no explanation and suggest bedrest. This is of no value and sounds like 200 year old medicine. Best wishes.
