Excruciating Pain!!

I just had a temporary crown put on approximately one week ago in preparation for my permanent porcelain crown.  After the procedure I had some pain in the injection site but that subsided after a couple of advil.  The next day I started having more pain at the injection site which is in the lower gum right under the crowned tooth and now i have some purplish/grayish bruising and an even bigger hole where he injected the needle coupled with some swelling and excruciating burning pain.  At first I tried to just rinse with salt water but when it didn't go away I called my dentist and he said its most likely a hematoma.  What is this and how can I get rid of it?!!  I'm suppose to have the permanent put on in a couple weeks and now I'm scared!  Will I have to go through this again?

Hematoma rarely occurs after a dental anesthetic injection. If it does happen, seeing a hematologist to rule out underlying blood dyscrasia is advised. Delivery of a crown generally doesn't require anesthetic injection.Spontaneous remission of hematoma is expected within 10-14 days.
