Noisy work environment causing anxiety/depression, numerous problems?

by cdl3, Mar 19, 2008 01:49AM
I am constantly exposed to a noisy work environment. The noise comes from loud vocalizations (VERY LOUD) on a daily basis. I work 16 hours per day as a live-in, 12 days straight, with every other weekend off. When I say constantly exposed, I really mean it. Every time I hear a loud vocalization (I estimate it being every 3-5 minutes throughout my 16 hour shift), I can feel my body tense with each vocalization. Or cringe, if you that's what you want to call it. I do not mind the laughter, and happy vocalizations, only the negative, demanding vocalizations which are mostly behavioral. I have noticed my anxiety over the years has increased significantly since working at this place. I can't go to a restaurant without feeling anxious and when I am in a room full of people and it is TOO quiet, I feel very uncomfortable (as if "quiet" isn't normal, or maybe something I am not used to anymore). I can't concentrate on many tasks and I've lost a lot of motivation for my job (although I still have a great deal of passion). I've noticed I have a very hard time sleeping at night, and rest is something I absolutely need for my 16 hour shifts. Has this noisy environment contributed to these changes in my emotional/mental/physical health? Can you please list the medical conditions that constant exposure to noise pollution can lead to? Thank you very much.

there's more information I would like to share with you than is whats in the following paragraphs.. but i was typing about it so long I started to get lost in the ball pit that is my brain I also had to relax my heavily caffinated raised brows and get some help cleaning the apartment....Not all people feel comfortable asking for help, I however am not one of them...

if you're anything like me you've been subjected to trauma in your life you are to attentive to the each stimulus.  Allow yourself time to finish your thoughts and then simply restate what you think the person said so to let them know you heard them.  I wish you the best of luck...I'd also like to commend you for your efforts...

During the quiet allow yourself to rest in between talking .play comatose. .play feel your legs tighten and numb. .think nothing. .observe water being poured into a glass, the sunlight hitting the wall. force everything force nothing Often our greater discoveries and conversation for other people rise in conjunction with indulgence.

Consider this your depression exam

"I feel guilty all the time" "seeing my friends and family and neighbors and peers suffer from depression is hard on me".  Do what YOU love.  it (what you love) can even be nothing you will emulate a sense of well being and feel it too.

I'd be more than happy to illustrate well being as I see it.  I hope this transcription has helped you

this is for everyone reading the post:
a continuation of the depression test.

"My boyfriend(s) have abused me"  -how you like to behave determines  how you want your prospective mate to behave .  1st degree murder ultimately wants a fatal mate.  what he lusts so must everyone else  "It is so irresistable to me i even get pleasure from others doing or wanting the same.".  same goes for the good things you like it when you're outgoing or being sensual is your guilty pleasure nothing is more appealing than when you're mate seeks those said things,  you don't have to try to understand him anymore you see him doing and experiencing something enjoyable.  kind of like values.

; )
here's where it turns to ush~
