why am I coughing up slime like clear mucas at night

by babymae, Mar 19, 2008 02:35AM
One year ago I was diagnosed with acid reflux although I had no heartburn or other known acid reflud symptoms that I had heard of.  I was given Nexium and Prilosec for it.  At times it seemed to help then stopped.  In fact before I stopped taking it, it began to burn my stomach and gut. I was told to stop taking it and then it stopped.  About a month later I went to the hospital emergency room and was told I had asthmatic bronchitis and was treated for it with inhalants.  It worked for a while then stopped.  Later my primary doctor sent me for an andominal ultrasound.  I then had an endoscopic procedure and was told I had an esophocas infection.  I was given Fluconazole and Zantac.  It eventually seemed to go and I stopped taking the Zantac but now it has returned.  The doctor stilI has me taking Zantac but I am miserable, I can't sleep. Primarily at night, I am up 3 to 4 times coughing up the disgusting mucus.  On one occassion I coughed up blood. I clearly need a definite diagnosis.  can anyone help me....please let me know if anyone has experienced this
