Spastic paraparesis, numbness, shock sensations

by No diagnosis, Mar 19, 2008 03:56AM
I have been seeing doctors regarding numbness, spasms and shock-like sensations in my thoracic area.  It feels as if someone has a belt around my entire trunk constantly and it is being pulled tight.  I get the shocklike sensations around my trunk when I move, cough, walk, etc.  However I only have mild pain.  I recently began having difficulty walking.  I drag/slap my feet, stub my toes, lose my balance. I have some bladder urgency but no incontinence yet.   I went to a neurologist and had an MRI of brain and thoracic, myelogram  with CT scan and some sort of nerve conduction test.  The diagnosis was  was mild scoliosis and spondylosis of the the thoracic spine.  If I understood my doctor correctly...this would not account for the difficulties I am having.  The nerve test was however abnormal.  She is referring me to yet another doctor at the local university hospital.  Said that my symptoms were most likely caused by something going on in the spinal cord.  What could that be?  What sort of tests can I expect to be performed?
