small bumps on penis, skin irritation

by dv2929, Mar 19, 2008 01:38PM
the shaft of my penis and my scrotum are covered with very small, painless bumps. they appear to form under the skin, and are slightly lighter colored than the surrounding skin. they started to appear at puberty, and as i grew pubic hair they spread from a small cluster underneath the penis until they reached all the way around. they are contained to the area beneath the colored line near the top of the penis (where the foreskin was removed?) and have never spread above this area or to the tip of my penis. i can usually squeeze a white substance out of them if they are larger than normal. most are no more than 1mm wide, it looks like a permanent case of "goose bumps". some have hairs growing out of them, and i have a moderate amount of single, stray hairs growing in this area of my penis, more than seems normal. at the base of my penis, where the pubic hair is more clustered and there lots of friction, I usually have one or two raised, blister like bumps. they don't form chancres or anything, but if i squeeze them, they often bleed easily. i also have had these larger sores form on my penis about 3 times, usually after shaving it seems. it looks like some of my pubic hair is growing 2 hairs out the same follicle. its not episodic, it has been there since puberty. I completely shaved my pubic hair before, and never noticed lice. i never had any serious lesions or discoloration except the few times when they have grown large and infected looking, instances i've chalked up to ingrown hairs or shaving. the scarring from the large sores is extremely embarrasing and im constantly afraid it will happen again. i have recently come back from a sexually active trip to europe, and have a slightly larger red bump on my scrotum and redness at the base of my penis. i wore a condom, but considering i shaved before i left and walking a lot, creating a lot of friction, i dont know if i'm paranoid about an STD or if this is simply the same stuff. help please?

The bumps you describe are cysts.  These are part of normal penis anatomy, and they belong there.  They cannot and should be removed.  I suspect that what you are calling large sores are what happens when you try to remove these cysts.  It's also possible that they become inflamed on their own, perhaps from friction or sex.  They are not likely to be infected, much less transmissible to a partner.  They are no cause for concern.  If you remain paranoid about STD's because of these skin changes, you'll need reassurance in person.  Take photos with you to the doctor if you go, to be able to show what's worrying you.

Best.

Listen, i think i got the same exact thing. Its like goosbumps ( wichi s normal) but then i have a cluster of little red goospums that look like pimples. I am so pissed off about this. I went to a dermotologist who says its from sweat retention. i dont even know what that means. I want a cure. He gave me Dexomethose and that DOES NOTHING. I dont want no cysts or whatever they call them. I want my normal skin back and i want somthing that will cure this. Its BS that its normal and belongs there. I dont buy that.

I recently noticed little red irritations on the shaft of my penis but just on the top of my penis.  I originally thought that they were from condom irritation as they started to look better the day that I noticed them and because I heard that increased use of condoms can increase the chances of irritation.  It has been 3 days with this and they look better but have not gone away and I have noticed four very small bumps on the underside of the head of my penis just today.  They do not look like warts but more like little pimples mainly on the wrinkles of my penis; the 4 bumps on the underside or in between the shaft and head.  I am a sexually active person...I have had sex with 3 different people over the last 2 weeks; all with a condom but I had short non-condom contact with one of them that I did not ejaculate in.  Out of the 3, she seemed the most likely to carry any diseases.  What are your thought here?  Is it more likely an STD or skin irritation?
Thanks,
