Could I be Pregnant despite neg. test result?

by JAL84, Mar 20, 2008 02:04AM
Hi. I'm 23yrs old and sexually active. I've missed 3 periods now (I never skip periods) and continue to get false reads on pregnancy tests. I'm also tired all the time, I've gained weight, I have breast tenderness, and cramping/gas issues. I went to my OBGYN and she also gave me a pregnancy test that was negative. She prescribed estrogen for five days to induce a period and that hasn't worked either.

Could I still be pregnant?

My doctor thinks its possible I have PCOS. I've had an ultrasound which showed many cysts. My periods are regular though, and I dont seem to have any of the other symptoms like weight gain, facial hair, skin tags, etc.

Hi, I have PCOS.  I have battled with it for 7years now.  It is a very tricky especially sehn it comes to gettin pregnant.  I had a lot of false reads myself.  At first I couldn't get pregnant then I had a couple of miscarriages and finally I have a son.  I didn't try for 7 years.  But, I was told that I would have a hard time conceiving because I had PCOS.  You may want to take birth control to regulate your periods first and then get off of it and then try.  I had to do that because, as long as your periods skip like that you may not even be ovulating.  Good Luck!!!! Holler if you need anything else.

perhaps suggest to your gp or specialist about a scan this is the only thing that will show of a pregnancy if you think you may be despite the neg results?? i have heard before of people that continue to have periods while being pregnant and likewise dont have a pos result. although i think its somewhat rare.
I have pcos and struggled to have children despite fertility drugs operations etc and now i have 2 children that were naturally concieved without help.
I didnt have the classic pcos either only the no periods and then constant bleeding etc.

Keep with it and i think insist on a scan if your really worried you are pregnant.
