true, unless it's autoimmune..but she still must take the replacement hormone while pregnant.
No srry but if you have discovered having a thyrid problem during pregnancy or after childbirth it is very possible that it will correct itself I have proof because it happened to me so i am living proof
I highly recommend you read Mary Shomon's book, "Living Well with Hypothyroidism". There is a whole chapter on pregnancy and hypothyroidism which I learned a great deal from. As Gabby suggested, you should be getting checked at least every trimester and have your medication adjusted as necessary. Unfortunately, once you're diagnosed, you have it for life. Good luck with your pregnancy!
As far as I know synthroid is safe for you to take while you are pregnant.I was also diagnosed with a pregnancy induced hypothyroid condition after my daughter was born last year and I'm pretty sure once you have it it's for good (unfortunately) make sure you have your labs done regularly because an uncontrolled hypothyroid while you are pregnant can be dangerous to your baby..also, exercise is the best thing to stimulate your thyroid..
