Child Confussion

My daughter, 6 y/o, has twice in the last week awaken out of a sound sleep and been very confused and had no idea who or what was around her.  Is this something we should be concerned about?

Are you completely sure she was awake?  My niece does this and is not awake at all, she's actually just talking in her sleep.  If you really didn't know better some times you would swear she was awake.  She sits straight up in bed and looks around until she finds someone to talk to--don't know what happens when noone's there?--and then she makes no sense about where she is or what's going on.  We just push her back down and tell her to go back to sleep.  Her mother also does this even to a worse degree.

Has something happened to her lately that has caused stress?  Anything in her life different this week that would upset her?  Think like her when asking yourself this.  Some times things happen that will really affect our little ones that we think nothing about.

Good luck and I hope she stops doing this.

She has gotten glasses, but she loves them!  The last time she did this she was sick but the first time she did not have illness.

If she does it again I would make sure she's wide awake.  If she is and is still so confused I think you need to get her to her pediatrician.
