one year check up lab

by julimom, Mar 21, 2008 09:15AM
My daughter is 1 year.  Healthy.  NO symptoms at this time.  at her one year check up her labs were as followed:
WBC 21.8
hgb normal
MCV 65
Platelets 900,000 super elevated

I have beta thalessemia minor and no problems associated with that.  waiting on a couple of tests, but the docs aren't real sure what is going on.  thinking maybe a virus on top of a chronic blood disorder???
But again, no symptoms, fever, etc.
Any ideas what is going on?

As you know, the WBC and Platelet count are sky high. I know there is no harm to the baby if one parent suffers from Thalessemia, but if both parents have it, it can be very harmful to the baby. Has your husband been checked for Thalessemia? I know the chances of both of you having it is rare, but I have known it to happen.
