Penis Pain

by peterspice, Mar 21, 2008 10:29PM
Hello, I would appreciate any input you may have for me. I am a white male in my late twenties, and have had no prior problems, but after a night of oral sex and protected intercourse I have had a few issues. I was tested for STD's and given an examination twice since with no results of anything, however, I had some pain and stinging in my penis for a while afterwards, and the doc said it was probably a bacterial infection but not an STD. He said it should go away and he gave me antibiotics for two of the most common stds just in case. He said I'm thinking about it too much and it should go away. Well it is a month later and I am having pain and discomfort to what feels like my urethra, like my whole penis is kind of aching and sore, not to touch, or arouse so much as just aching. Do you have any suggestions because there is so much info on the web but none really fits my symptoms, and this is really starting to get to me because if it is really nothing I shouldn't be feeling like this, and I know my body and I've never felt this sort of thing before. It seems like it was gone for a bit but it somes and goes and the last few days it's quite been persistent. Thanks for your time....

Hi,

Was a urine culture done in your case? I suggest that you have this done to guide treatment.

Also,is there any associated penile discharge or urinary symptoms like pain in urination and increase in urinary frequency?

There may be an underlying infection here as your symptoms suggest. Mild injuries and irritation involving the skin of the penis may also cause pain and tenderness.I suggest that aside from consulting with your urologist you also seek consult with a dermatologist  for your condition.

Are you taking any pain medications?

Do you have any known allergies?

Hello, I had a urine culture done for two things, syphilis and gonorrhea, both were negative, and the doc rules out any other std's and cancer by his inspection. I have no discharge or pain during urination, and I drink a lot of fluids so every couple hours shouldn't be too frequent I don't think. I am not on any pain meds and i have only had one known allergy which was cold urticaria (hives) which went away and never came back which was couple years ago. With my job i sometimes i sit a lot and other times I am up a lot, I noticed that sitting for a long period kind of irritates my groin as an ache, but that I know and has never changed, it's the feeling in my penis of this that I am concerned about. thanks for your reply.  Also, should I be looking for a stint of antibiotics to get rid of any possible infection or anything that may help?

Hi,

Have you completed the course of antibiotics that your physician has given you?

This stinging pain in the penis may still be due to an underlying infection.A lower urinary tract infection may still be likely.

Continue to observe your symptoms. If your antibiotics have been completed a repeat urinalysis may help determine your response to the medications. Another differential in your case will be pudendal neuralgia.Impingement and irritation of the pudendal nerve secondary to certain exercises like cycling and maybe even with prolonged sitting may also lead to groin pains.

Thanks for your replies...Greatly appreciated any input. I won't be able to get to a doc for a couple weeks, I work out of town, so I hope it stays the same or goes away but I will get in again when I get back. The antibiotics were a one time dose (is that normal?) so i haven't taken any since. Thanks again.
