Hello,

Irregular menstrual bleeding deserves an evaluation.  A woman's age and medical history helps shape the differential diagnoses considered in these circumstances.  Common causes of menstrual irregularities include pregnancy, thyroid changes, prolactin hormone changes, endometrial polyps, or abnormal endometrial tissue, or anovulation.  I suggest you see your physician to begin a work up.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
