Chronic face pain on the left side

by inpain22, Mar 22, 2008 03:34PM
I'm 33, female, and have had facial pain on my left side for several months now.  I've just had my second surgery on my sinuses on that side and thought the pain was related.  However, I got a second opinion yesterday from a new ENT and he said the pain I'm having isn't related to my sinuses and that I should see a neurologist and have an MRI done.  It might take months to see a neurologist because they are booked full with appts.  In the meantime I'm looking for answers.  The ENT mentioned trigeminal neuralga (sp?).  The pain I have is localed mostly in the spot right in front of my ear and it feels like there is a lump, not a hard one, but I seem to be the only one that can feel it.  I can't lay on that side of my face at night because it hurts so much.  The pain is pretty much always there and all I'm told to take is ibuprofin or motrin which really does nothing for this pain.  I'm not sure I have all the symptoms for it to be TN.  It sort of feels like there is a ball under my skin in front of my ear, you can't see it, but I can feel it if you know what I mean.  The pressure is intense, my ear always hurts yet they say there is nothing wrong with my ear.  Please help me if you can!  Thanks:)
