Something "in" my period

by pilot35, Mar 23, 2008 12:02AM
I am 39 years old and recently felt something pass when I was urinating and on my period.  I have traditionally always have a very heavy flow the first couple of days and it lightens up for the last few days.  I do not take birth control and have been married for 18 years.  What "passed" looked like a a test tube that was opaque about 3" long and had a chamber or bubble near one end with something inside and tiny bloodvessels leading away from it.  The bubble was also opaque.  It mortified me!  I saw another question similar to this but I had a few more questions.  I wasn't feeling great all day.  I have cramping and light-headedness and sensations of nausea.  I initially thought I might be low on iron but when the symptoms did not pass as usual...I was concerned.  Please help.

It could have been a fibroid that you passed.  Some people who have fibroids also tend to be more prone to anemia as they bleed a little heavier.

I would HIGHLY recommend that you schedule an appointment w/ your OBGYN for a check-up.  Also, if something similar happens in the future, keep the "specimen"

Next time I will, this time I was in a public restroom at work and everyone knew I wasn't well.  Being one of two females that work there, lots of scrutiny before I made it back to my things and especially out to my car.

I have another question though.  I saw something about cervical polyps as well here on these forums.  During sex my husband says he can feel "something" maybe like a q-tip just days before my period.  If a polyp exists, do they change size  or engorge?  I'm just trying to get as much information to my gyn. before hand.

Thanks

I "think" polyps do change in size thoughout your cycle but Im not 100% sure on that.

here is a link to a picture of a uterine polyp - did what you passed look anything like this?
