Hi juju67-
My rash was similar and I also found relief from hydocortisone cream, but my dermatologist didn't like that solution. Eventually, after much trial and error, (mostly roseacea treatments) she put me on accutane. She didn't really know if it would clear up the situation but it really did. I would at least discuss it with your dermatologist. Accutane has a bad reputation and is sort of controversial so it is very much an individual choice. Also, if you are a female, there are a lot of hoops to jump through in order to get it. However, clearing up that rash on my face helped my self esteem so much, and my skin really has never looked better.
Hi,
This new onset rash may be related to the rosacea. Rosacea however does not have a definite mode of treatment and the condition may be persistent especially in the presence of triggering or aggravating factors.
Rosacea may be associated with acne and dermatitis. This has to be ascertained in your case as management will be personalized or customized in the presence of other skin conditions. Also, how long have you been using the corticosteroid? I suggest you duscuss this with your physician. You may need to have your medications changed. Rosacea may be aggravated by the use of coticosteroids especially if there is broken and irritated skin. Topical antibiotics may be beneficial.
Avoid extreme heat, smoke, extreme changes in temperature, spicy food ,alcohol and other known triggers .Do keep us posted regarding your physician' s advice.
