According to my lmp which was 01/19/08, I should be around 9 weeks pregnant.  my hcg levels read 90693.0.  Is that consistant with 9 weeks....the test says that according to that number, I am only 6 weeks along.

Hello,

hCG levels are not exact and are not very helpful to assist in pregnancy dating.  There are very few and specific circumstance where the hCG level is used to help gain a sense of pregnancy dating.  The LMP and early ultrasound dating are the best ways to determine gestational age.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing

Hi Becca, I know that all women are different but if it helps i am 6.3 weeks pregnant and my hcg level came back yesterday at just over 20,000. They told me that was a good # for that far along. I would guess that with your level that your about 7.5 weeks. Have you had a u/s yet?

i'm about 6.5 -7 wks pregnant and my hcg level is 27,000. since it has not been doubling every 46 hrs., aproximately, they are concerned.  you never know i guess without an ultrasound.

I had an ultrasound yesterday, and they are having a hard time measuring the baby.....they are sending me for a better ultrasound today because they are thinking I may be carrying twins, but are not sure!  I'm a little worried because I thought with twins the hcg number would be higher.

My doctor told me every pregnancy has differnet hcg so not all should be the same also told me that some ladys have very low hcg and go on to give birth to a healthy baby
he said its not the hcg level that matters as long as there is a baby with heart beat and baby is growing then thats all that matters

I know i always ask what hcg levels are in my pregnancy and this is what he told me with my last pregnancy as mine was low at first and then started to shoot up and doubling i think your hcg is great and onec you turn a certain week in your pregnancy your hcg stays the same it does not rise any more

If you type in hcg levels in pregnancy on the net i am sure you will see that your hcg levels seem great

big hugs Karen

I found out I was pregnant on Feb. 8th and went to the dr on Feb 11th and they told me I was 4 1/2 - weeks preg..they didn't test my hcg levels at that time.  I then went for my first visit on 3/18/08 and they tested my hcg levels and it was 18075 and when they tested is on 3/20 it was 14431...my dr said it is possible that i will miscarry, but i have not had any bleeding or cramping.  I am scheduled to go back for more bloodwork on friday and monday.  when an vaginal u/s was performed they said the baby size seemed to be 5 1/2 weeks at that time.  that was 4 weeks after my first confirmation of preg....should i be worried that the baby is smaller than what they think?  or they said i could not be as far along ...should i also be worried that my hcg levels are decreasing and not as high?  the dr did see the yolk sac but no heartbeat on 3/18...

Thank you.  My boyfriend and I are just so tired of all of the bloodwork and we feel like the dr keeps making us wait longer and longer.  The pregnancy wasn't planned, but we are both very excited now.  I go for my next u/s next friday so hopefully we will get some good news.

I will keep you in my prayers.  I lost my son at 5 1/2 months along 2 1/2 years ago, we went through a lot with him, but God graciously gave us the strength to go on.  Just be patient a little longer, and try to stay possitive.......and if what the Dr.s are saying is true, then your baby will be in the best hands possible!!!

Thank you so much for your kind words.  Yes we are definitely praying as well.  I know God has a plan for each and every one of us.  I trust that things will work out for the best no matter what the outcome may be. God knows what is best for each of us in our current situations.

Over the past week my HCG levels have been rising but not doubling at the normal rate. We've gone from 300 to 400 but its taken a week. I have some bleeding and last week they said I'd miscarried and my numbers should start to go down. They're still rising. What's going on? Could I have been pregnant with twins and miscarried one? Was I preganant, miscarried and now pregnant again?

If your numbers are still rising, I would certainly wait a little longer.  How far along are you?
