Dilated eye with droppy eye lid

Im 41 and have had problems with my eye. I was diagnosed with conjunctivitus last november,then because it didnt clear up they said I was alergic to creams and drops i was given.Now Im under the hospital on steroid drops for my eye,I have now one dilated pupil with a droopy eye lid most of the reddness and swelling has gone. They still dont know what it is im getting quite worried ive had blood tests which are all clear so why dont they do a mri scan Someone please help im at my wits end with worry.

Just one note of concern here:  a dilated pupil combined with a droopy eyelid (ptosis) can be a sign of a partial third cranial nerve palsy.  Some of the causes include hardening of the arteries, stroke, tumor or intracranial aneurysm.  If you indeed have your stated symptoms, and no other obvious cause could be seen, then an MRI of brain and work up would be indicated.  I don't know how the conjuctivitis fits in.  If you have an outward turned out that also would be a worrisome sign.

The conjunctivitus was diagnosed by the doctor last November as my eye was red and closed and very itchy they gave me creams ect over the course of 8 weeks,when this did'nt heal they sent me to an eye specialist who then said It was'nt clearing up because I must be alergic to all the eye ointments they were giving me.They then started me on a course of steroids and artificial tears the reddness etc has gone but now Im left with droopy eye and dilated pupil.My eye also tears quite alot,im still on the steroids and maxitrol ointment and still my eye is the same, im back at the hospital on Thursday.

If all together - droopy lid, enlarged pupil, eye turned out and unable to turn in or up -- all together indicate a 3rd cranial nerve palsy.

I can move the eye left and right up and down yet feels a little wiered,I have occasional flutters inside the eye across the eye ball which feels like something has run acoss the eye ball.Hospital say they can see a few scratch marks across the eye ball it self and this may be the cause of a reocurring infection,yet I think this has been done due to all the rubbing and wiping ive done since last November,Yet Ive had a thyroid check etc to see why im getting reoccuring infection which they say im getting and they have come back ok.Ive had antibiotics,steroids over the past 3 months and still my eye is the same should I be concerned if not Partial third Cranial Palsy what else could this be.

Please note this all started Last November with watering of the eye for about a week then sudden need to rub the eye untill it was totally red and swollen then had to seek medical help.The amount of antibiotics,creams etc and steroids Ive been given should of cleared up any ones eye infection by now.I don't wear any make up and hav'nt done since this started so nothing is irritaing it,so here I am with a moveable droopy enlarged pupiled eye 4 months on........

Your problem is complex - sorry, but you need your own  personal ophthalmologist to take care of this problem.  If the one you have is not getting results - you should get a second opinion.  I suspect there may not be good access to qualified ophthalmologist where you are??

Whats wrong with me im really worried,im awaitin a long needed scan but im at my wits end with worry while i wait.I have a slightly droopy lid with enlarged pupil im in no pain and im leading a normal busy life.It all started with eyeuritis last november and ended up with this condition in the past two months.
The speciallist really are at a loss as I have no other classic signs of 3rd nerve palsy ie vision s fine slightly hazy in the effected eye,my pupil has no response to light yet eye movement seems ok maybe slighlty sluggish.I am quite tired lately but this maybe because im a community carer and drive alot, and my lid does'nt droop to much but enough to be noticed.Could there be another problem and maybe not 3rd nerve.Im am sensitive to light in that eye especially artificial light which starts the eye tearing.
I must say the the eyeuritus did take a very long time to clear up and the onset of the eye dilation and lid droop followed on straight after the infection...

Just to inform you Ive got my scan at last just awaiting my appointment. Ive still got a slight droop in my lid and pupil is still in enlarged and does'nt react to light still yet my eye movement is fine and im in no pain and ive had no other problems part from sensitive to light in that eye especially artificial light which makes it water.They have took my blood tests again and im waiting the results of them probably get these after the scan.Although I have some signs of 3rd nerve palsy could there be a strong possibility it is'nt this and may be something not so sinister,as I know by the look on the specialists faces there at a loss to what this might be.I really dont think they are sure what it is.....Could it be damage the eyeuritis has caused as I did have it for a very long time and they did struggle to clear it up.Im so hoping my scan is clear as im terribly scared......Have you any thoughts on what else this maybe as im sure if it was 3rd nerve palsy there would of been some deteration by now,but there is'nt eye has stayed same.I honeslty don't think the Doctors think I have this either but what else do you think they will look for on the scan????
