Vibrating Bouncy Chairs are a MUST!!!!!

by tahariel, Mar 25, 2008 11:22PM
Happiest Baby on the Block dvd (for moms/dads) and swaddling blankets for baby. Bobby pillow. Lansinoh cream. Avent pacifiers. Vibrating bouncy chair - I agree!  Halo sleep sack. Baby nail trimming scissors. Snuggle Nest for cosleeping. Burts Bees baby care products.

Does anybody use Dr. Brown's bottles?  I'm so confused as there weren't all of these choices 15 years ago.  I went on Target's website to look at the reviews and moms either loved them or hated them.

by Tennesseegirl, Mar 26, 2008 08:15AM
yea.. I bought a three pack to try them out.. Im really not sure what the best bottles is out there either. and I also got the avent ones. glass are hard to find.

I don't have this yet but wish I had bought it right away...there is this bouncy seat by bright starts at babiesrus which is higher than most and has a shelf underneath.  It brings the baby up to mommy's level which would be great.  I always feel so bad for my daughter when I stick her in her low seat on the floor.  It just seems too low and makes it hard to interact.  I plan to buy this other one next time I go out!

Also I really love the SwaddleMe Kiddopotamaus blankets.  They are so handy and you don't have to worry about loose blankets in the crib overnight.  They stay nice, warm and secure.

Boppy pillow (even if you don't bf--my MIL loves to use it for just holding her grandbabies).   Also, a side to side swing.  I only had the old fashioned kind that swung front to back---but those are so dated now.  Seems like everyone gets the kind that rock sideways now too.

Also, definitely an infant car seat/carrier.  I have friends in NYC, who don't even drive, yet they still use the little carriers all the time for transporting baby around.  Good Luck!

I told DH if I don't get a new glider to rock the baby in, then I am going to be very upset =o)... hehehe

You know, the small things I have gotten that I didn't think people would think about it... disposable changing pads, cradle cap care lotion, massaging oil for baby (after he is a bit older of course), extra nursing pads, two car seats (for DH and my car) two snugli carriers (one for in the car) extra filled diaper bag to leave in the car (lord only knows I will forget the diaper bag when leaving in a hurry!!.. hehe) We should all have extra supplies in the car!!

by pertykitty, Mar 28, 2008 01:45PM
pcarsey you have something there i have left without diapers, not good.  you know the changing stations are disgusting so if you must use one to change your baby keep antibacterial wipes to clean the thing down and an extra blanket that you will not use other than that untill its washed again.  hand sanitizer (i know these arent gadgets)>  we use our vibrating chair the most and she has a swing for when im in the shower HOWEVER a lot of babies dont like these so i wouldnt go spend tons of money on things that might never be used.  if a friend has one you can try out its a good idea.  i love my boppy, i bf and even when i dont they do get heavy even when small.  a monitor so you can hear.see them when you arent in the room.

MLB1234- Thanks for the info on the bouncey seat. I wanted a taller one, mainly b/c of my 2 yr old!!
pcarsey- You are being nice to DH. I told mine he needs to go and buy me a Rocker/Recliner before I come home from he hospital, LOL.....

I bought a rocker/recliner from best chairs, see link below. They have the wooden frame if that is what you are interested in but i got the upholstered type.  I love it.  I have actually slept in it for the last month (w/ Jacob on my chest). It is so comfortable.

Get lots of recieving blankets
Butt Paste is supposed to be the best diaper rash cream on the market
If you are using a changing pad, i would buy 3 or 4 covers for it
Jacob didn't like the swing at first, but now he loves it. It took about 6wks.
Oh tummy time gym/mats. I have one by baby Einstein. It comes with all kinds of detachable toys you can use in the crib or in the car seat carrier or bouncy chair.

I agree with the boppy: I LOVE my boppy. I don't even know how I breastfed 6 others without it!! It's great for just holding the baby too---especially for elderly and young children. And you can use it for support for baby while sitting when they are still wobbly.

I am a fan of Desitin--original. (NOT creamy) I have tried every brand of diaper rash cream and always come back to it. It works the best, hands down.

Also I LOVE his exersaucer--don't know what I'd do without that either. He loves it and it keeps him entertained for a long time.

My youngest is five, but we found the Dr. Brown's bottles to be the best for her, less gas and spitting up.  I don't know why, but we tried Avent and for us they always leaked and/or spilled.   We were huge fans of Dr. Brown!  She loved the Baby Einstein videos, especially at 3 a.m!  The baby light show, which puts the lights on the ceiling with music was also a winner.

I love the Dr. Brown bottles and the Soothie bottles for going places because they have the place to put the powdered formula that hooks to the bottom.

The glider is a must, hypo-allergenic baby wash and lotion, the swing and bouncer is a must.  And, for me, onesies that snap up the front and don't have to pull over the head.  I got a ton of the pullover kind but I went and bought the snap kinds.  They are so much easier to get them in and out of.

We love the Dr. Brown's bottles and now they come in polypropelyne (sp?) so you don't have to worry about the BPA.  We didn't sterilize the clear plastic Dr. Browns and never heated them and handwashed just to be a little careful.  We also love our swing and are still using it 7 months later. Lastly, our baby had baby rash all the time and so we finally switched to cloth diapers (www.bumgenius.com) and she hasn't had it since. We tried EVERY diaper rash cream and none of them totally got rid of the rash (even prescription cream) and the first weekend we tried the bum genius diapers, it was 95% gone by Monday morning.

Oh yeah, forgot to add a couple more things. The Bundle Me is awesome for colder states (we live in MN) for the winter. You just put the baby in and zip it up and it kept our baby warm even with outside temps were far below freezing. If using formula, there is also a hand mixer that you just stick in the bottle and run for about three seconds and it thoroughly mixes the formula.

Microwave bottle sterilizer - what a time saver!  Also a tip for nappy rash - Zinc Ointment - you won't believe how it works and is so cheap (I always have a bottle for the "Bad" rash, and use the normal stuff for everyday). I mix a bit of Frere Balsm in which helps it to stick and improves healing (don't know if you get it where you are)
