chlamydia won't go away

I was diagnosed with chlamydia about 9 months ago. Myself and my girlfriend were treated with azithromyosin but my symptoms didn't go away. We then both took doxycyclin and my symptoms (my girlfriend doesn't get the symptoms) went away. We waited 2 weeks before having sex again but when we did, my symptoms (redness, clear discharge and burning pain when urinating) came back. Whilst taking the doxycyclin, i had an STD check for all other STDs and they came back negative.

I took azithromyosin again but that didnt work and im now currently 3/4 way through another week's course of doxycyclin. However, the symptoms have not gone away - if anything they've got worse. I'm also getting random sharp pains in my testes and in my lower abdomen. I'm really worried, if anyone can shed some light on this please let me know. it feels like im never gonna get rid of this problem, thanks

Have you had another positive test, or are docs just assuming you still have chlamydia because of the symptoms?

Have you had a prostate exam?

I just assumed because the symptoms were exactly the same and i hadnt had sex with anyone else other than my gf. A test takes two weeks to get the result and i didnt want to hang around waiting when i knew what the result was gona be.

You need to have the test to find out for sure if its still chlamydia, or if something else is going on.
