Chronic Facial Pain

by alast, Mar 25, 2008 11:46PM
I'm a 20 year old female in chronic pain. The pain started gradually for the first few days but I've had severe chronic facial pain for 6 weeks. It is a deep ache in my cheeks that shoots down through my teeth, up the side of my face to my forehead, to my ears, down through my jaw and up the back of my head. The pain moves around, sometimes the left side, sometimes the right .Sometimes it will only hurt at the top of my head. Sometimes I get an electric tear that runs down my cheek or my chin will go numb. Exertion exacerbates it, as does cold.

My dentist says that nothing dental is wrong
My neurologist is too busy to see me.
My GP thinks it's just chronic headaches.
My sinus x-rays showed nothing wrong.
I'm scheduled for an MRI in two weeks

The pain is excruciating. I can barely eat or sleep. I wake up in pain and go to bed in pain. The only thing I've been given is Tramadol, which I take round the clock. I'm afraid the doctors are missing something obscure, and that I'll be in this much pain forever.
