Infant eating too much?

by Mark_F, Mar 26, 2008 07:51PM
My son is 10 weeks and cries and cries after finishing 6 ounces of formula or breast milk with a teaspoon of oatmeal cereal (doctors orders for gastro-intestinal issues).  He wont stop crying until we give him 2 more ounces.  He is starting to look overweight as he is approaching 14 pounds already.   His stomache portrudes and he has a clear roll-mark around his wrists and ankles....His thighs are chubby as well.  Are there any weight charts that may be out there to tell what he should weigh at this stage?  Any way to curtail his hunger?

He seems to be in the higher percentiles for his weight; however, you did not state his height so the weight for height relationship for his age is unknown. Some children look very big and 'chubby' as infants and when they start to walk they lose that 'baby fat'. It is recommended that children under 3 years should not be put on diets or eat low fat foods due to brain development. They need the fat.
