Umm I don't know.  I would expect it to grow on the culture, but I don't know if that's common for it not to.

OK I'm a little confused by your post.

Your urine showed growth at 48 hours?  Was that the trich?

Yes, a urine test is a decent test to look for trich.  Its better to have a swab done.

You can get it again, but you'd have to be exposed again.  That's why its SO important that all of your partners get treated.

my urine culture did so ant growth in 48 , i guess my question is, a urine test is a good why to test for trichomonas and if recurrent episode is a factor even with treatment?

They might have just done a dipstick test the first time, and then sent the urine off to be cultured.

The dipstick won't find trich.

If your partner is male, then I'm not surprised.  Its hard to find trich in men.  If you are also male, then you got lucky that they found it.

In either case, your partner needs to be treated.

I wonder if they treated you for a UTI when in reality the trich was causing the symptoms.
