Stevia Use and Insulin Use

I would like to know if the use of Stevia will interfere with my insulin.  I have read several different articles and read several published medical studies but each study I found reported the subjects as being "non-insulin dependent" during the study!   Some medical studies showed a 18% decrease in postprandial glucose of Type 2's on oral medications.  What is your take on it?  Is there anyone else out there on this forum that is on insulin (24 hour Lantus to be exact: I do not use Regular insulin at present)  and using the Stevia sweetner? Do you have any patients that are using it while on insulin? If so, how has it affected your BG levels? And how does aspartame effect blood glucose levels?  Some reports indicate no change, others show considerable negative change to BG levels.
Thanks

Hi,
I have read a study regarding the effect of the extract of Stevia on glucoses, and it does lower them overall(but this was also a very small study of about 16 people). In terms of the sweetener, I have  not stumbled onto any studies with that as yet, but I am now on the lookout. Thanks for the question.
In the meantime, just keep a close eye on your sugars if you chose to use the sweetener to see what the eect is on your own system.

Take care.
