? for the ladies that have had an ovary removed

by ashleybrook, Mar 27, 2008 09:46AM
28 years old, one child three years old! I had my right ovary removed in June 2006 due to Endo and PCOS, i still have my left ovary although I fear not for to long.  So since a few months after I had my ovary removed I have had some right sided pain, kinda of even with my belly button to the right, under my rib cage.  This can be constant or it can come and go, either way it is very pain and has continued to get worse.  When my ovary was removed the surgeon noted that I had adhesion on my colon, which she apparently "took down with scissors" at the time.  I have had GI tests done including checking my gallbladder and colonoscopy all are normal.  So three weeks ago I went in to the PCP for bloating, abdominal distention, nausea and crazy periods for two months.  He did an u/s which showed two 1.5 cm Endometrioma or Hemorrhagic cysts on the left ovary.  For the past week I have been having sharp shooting pain on my right side where the ovary should be and it goes down my groin, also the mid right quadrant pain is getting worse especially when I stretch or sit crunch! Also my low back has been crampy

Has anyone had this happen?  Do you think it could more adhesions or endo on my bowels etc.  Or could the cysts have burst (i was expecting more pain if that was the case) although my pain tolerance is high.

I have my two ovaries removed and I am 48 years old due to endometrosis.  I am 3 months after the operation and no pelvic pain after but I started to have a period recently and doctor said it is normal since he hormone wanted to get out in my body but I should not have any more period after since this will be the last period.

I am woried that endometrosis will come back after this removal of my ovaries but I still have my uterus which have fibroids.

Hi, I'm 22 andI had 1/2 of my right ovary removed due to a large endometrioma - I've also had a total of 4 laps for Endo. When I lay flat I feel like my insides are being pulled. I have been told it's my adhesions and scar tissue pulling like that - and yes, It hurts!!!
As far as I know, If a cyst bursts you'll get more symptoms like nauseated and severe abdominal pain. I hope everything turns out okay for you, did your doc say anything about maybe trying b/c pills to shrink it (don't know if it works for your types of cysts) Keep us posted.... :)

I had my left ovary removed because of an endometrioma.  After I had surgery I had the same pain.  Two years later and sometimes I still get that pain on the same side.  The scary thing for me was that I was like you....I have a very high threshold for pain.  I don't know whether a cyst has burst but, I agree with the post above, from everything I've red, you would be in severe pain....in the emergency room.  I hope everything works out for you.

Hello, My name is Shannon and I had my right ovary removed last Sept. and like you I have had this severe pain exactly where you have it. Even with my belly button over on my right side just under my rib cage. I have also had blood in my urine everyday ever since. The urologist and GI docs all tell me nothing is wrong. The pain is there everday and it gets pretty bad. I am so scared because obviously I know my body and I know this pain is not normal. I have never had i before they took out that ovary. I don't know what else to do.
If you get any answers please let me know asap.
Thanx,
Shannon
