sciatica pain

by waitress510, Mar 27, 2008 06:50PM
I just had an MRI which said I had spondylosis in L3throughS1,and a moderate diffuse bulge in L5-S1 which protudes to impinge on my nerve, its size is 10mm by 8mm.  I have been in pain for several months,  it got really bad 3 weeks ago with unbelievable spasms, and making it impossible for me to work ( I am a waitress).  I am feeling better, and can get around now (slowly) but still cannot work because carrying things brings back the pain.  Even a large book can cause pain much less my tray. I need to get back to work, but am afraid I will make it worse again.  I cannot take being disabled like how I was two weeks ago.  I couldn't do anything.  I couldn't even stand.  I don't know about this surgery -  will it make me better.  Will I be able to work as a waitress after it. Or should I continue to rest it, and then get back to work. Does carrying trays and bending make it worse or just aggravate it?  Is the size 10mm average size for a bulge?  Has anyone else had this and how did you get better?
