als diagnosis

by nick2nay, Mar 28, 2008 01:10PM
I'm a 43 year old female who has had widespread muscle twitches, weakness, and stiffness for the past 2 1/2 months.  In addition, my speech seems a little slurred.

I've been to a respected neurologist with 20 years experience for three visits.  The results of my exams were as follows:

neuro exams--normal
mri--normal
nerve conduction tests--normal
cpk level--normal
numerous blood tests--normal

one emg two months ago--left arm in multiple places--normal
second emg one moth ago--left hand, left leg--multple places--normal

I'm still feeling rotten. Should I move on or go for a second opinion?

Please get a second opinion. I pray that that comes out normal again. Now a days doc's treat us like cattle. Get as many opinions as possible until they find out why you are having these problems. It just seems we have to fight for our survival more than ever, if we dont fight for ourselves, who will? Surely not the HMO or PPO, they want us to give up and quit, all the while taking our monthley check.  There are numerous cases of people coming back with there first tests normal, later to find after a second, and sometimes even third opinion oh looky there, we found out why you feel like ****.  I know its hard to look at your Gp and say hey if you cant find it maybe theres a better doc out there that can, but you have to!!!!  Its your body and you know when something is wrong. We all cant be imagining the pain, not everyone is a hypocondriac. but thats exactly haw we get treated, like drup seeking maniacs looking to get high off the doc's supply, BU*****T!!!! Fight for your health sugar!!!!
