vocabulary development question

by concerned700, Mar 28, 2008 01:11PM
My daughter who is seven years old is having vocabulary problems.  She makes friends easily and is a very loving child.  We home school her and I (mom) am her teacher.  I have noticed for a while now that she has difficulty expressing herself or repeating things that she has just had repeated to her several times.  It seems like she has difficulty putting the words together in her head and then getting them to come out of her mouth.  I know that she knows the things because she can point or in other ways show you.  She just can't voice them.  This is not always the case.  It seems to come and go or atleast be worse some times.  She is a B student in most subjects.  However she can memorize 6-8 verses in the Bible and repeat them word for word.  I have considered having her tested for allergies as I heard that yeast and wheat allergies can cause symptoms such as these.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It would be sensible to have her undergo a learning disability screening, as well as speech/language evaluation. There is every reason to think that she is displaying some type of neurointegrative disorder, though only testing will be able to pinpoint precisely what it is.
