Shoulder and arm pain

by pammcleish55, Mar 28, 2008 02:13PM
Last Jan 2007 I fell at work and fracture my wrist in two places I had surgery and now have a plate in it. I also injured my shoulder at the same time Jan 24 2008 I had shoulder surgery for partial tear and other work done The first month I was doing good with PT but the last  3 weeks the pain in my shoulder is worse it is going all the way down to my forearm. It feels like something is pinching up high in my shoulder I also get sharp pains right where they put the pain pump in. I have tried to talk to the Dr. he says its normal. I have tried to call him because the therapist has stop alot of my PT afraid I will damage something.the Dr won't call back. I'm a little more then upset I'm in more pain then before and I don't go back to him till Apr 21 and I was hoping to be release back to work then. I'm a waitress and the way I feel now there is know I could do that. Any suggestions.

Hello,

I appreciate your interest in returning to work in the near future -- that is a good sign that you want to get better.

With regard to your current symptoms, I would encourage you to continue to pursue an appointment (not just a phone conversation) with your surgeon so that he or she can ensure that you are still on track with your recovery. Rarely, surgical repairs of rotator cuff tendons fail and can result in persistent pain and inability to use the shoulder.

In addition to the rotator cuff repair, what "other work" did you have done on your shoulder?

When you referred the "pain pump", were you referring to wear the IV entered your forearm? And, is the IV site where you are having discomfort?

I hope this is helpful to you.
