pain after getting off effexor

Is there a diff between Effexor and Effexor XR getting off of it? I've been on 150 for about 8 ys and I'm now trying for the 2nd time to get off it I'm taking 75 now then will go to 37.5 then off. The last time I got off it I started having a lot of aching & pain in arms, legs, hands & feet the Dr told me I needed to go back on it because obviously my brain didn't produce enough Norpinefrin soooo here I am & after reading all these I'm questioning the whole thing.
