Two more phosphaturia questions before I see mr Dr. next week.

by ScaredOfDisease, Mar 29, 2008 04:53AM
OK, so I have a Dr. appointment set for next week. But until then, this is my only real source of information. As stated before, I see the effects of phosphaturia after eating or drinking dairy. I usually have one or 2 cloudy urines after, then it goes back to clear. If I dont have dairy all day, I never have a cloudy urine.

I know the several possible underlying conditions.
However my question is, is this type of phosphaturia found to be more commonly harmless? Without causing any other issues? OR, is it more common to be problems with the parathyroid?

ALSO, could this be the cause of extreme mental labor? I have been under ALOT of stress lastely, as I am about to move out of the country. So I stress night and day, and I heard that could be a cause.

I only ask, because almost all the articals I read about phosphaturia, and the vinegar test, which works for me, state that its harmless and benign, and nothing to worry about. Thank you!

Sorry, I meant could the mental labor cause the phosphaturia.

Hi,

Phosphaturia is basically a benign condition (in your case, this may be due to your diet). If there are no associated symptoms like abdominal pain, pain in urination, increase in urinary frequency or urinary urgency this does not seem to pose any problems. Parathyroid symptoms ( depending whether hypoparathyroid or hyperparathyroid ) like weakness, forgetfulness, headaches and also diagnostic examination showing increased serum calcium levels  may require further evaluation.Do you have any of these?

I understand your concern. At this point, it is best to relieve yourself of unnecessary worries. If the need be, you may discuss this with your primary physician so that baseline diagnostic tests may be done. This does not sound like an urgent case. Just avoid intake of too much dairy products.

Thank you, this makes me feel alot better.

No, I dont think I have noticed any of those other symptoms. If I dont go for awhile, sometimes I run for the bathroom, but I think thats always been the case. LOL.

But yeah, that is why its been confusing. I have noticed nothing else wrong with me. Other than the fact that a few hours after I eat or drink dairy, I have a few cloudy urines.

The past 2 days I have eaten no dairy, so I have had no cloudy urines.

So I am hoping its nothing. I just worry also that if I do eat dairy, I may develope kidney stones.

Otherwise, no pain, or anything like that. Just 1, 2, or 3 cloudy urines after I eat or drink dairy.

Hi,

In that case, do slow down on the intake of dairy products. If you have a strong family history of kidney stones and given the right genetic predisposition, increase intake of food high in calcium may incease the risk for calcium stone development in the urinary tract.

So just take everything in moderation. Take plenty of water everyday and engage in mild to moderate exercises daily to improve circulation.Improved circulation facilitates excretion of wastes from the body.

Nobody in my family has ever had a stone.

Hi,

So there is really no strong genetic predilection. Susceptibility to stone formation seems to run in the family.

In your case, there is no need for further worries. Just watch out for any change in your symptoms like pain in urination, change in urine character and abdominal pain.

Keep us posted for anything.
