Biting and licking furniture

by mom079, Mar 31, 2008 03:17PM
My 16 month old son has to put everything in his mouth. He licks our wooden gate, toys, and even tries to lick our feet. Now he has started biting his crib rail and the window sills as well. He ate through the varnish down to the wood and will not stop. I have tried painting them with the nail polish that tastes bad but it doesn't bother him at all. We tell him no when we see him doing it and try to distract him with other things but he is getting splinters from the wood. And i am afraid he will hurt his mouth or bite some off and choke on it. Any suggestions on how to stop him?
