high protein in csf

by johnna32, Mar 31, 2008 05:23PM
i am 50 years old. Up to about 10 months ago i was in great health.  I live on a farm and i tend to 7 chicken house i have about 150 head of cattle.  what i trying to say is i was very active.   about 10 months ago i started to feel like my feet and legs (both) weight about 100 pounds a piece.  they would be cold then hot. feel like pens sticking in them.  also my fingers felt the same way.  i went to my regular dr.  he sent me to a neuro dr.  not a surgeon. he said i had neuropathy.  so he treated me for that.  months went by still no better just worse.  so i went to a chiropracter i was will to try anything.  well it didn't help.  so a friend of my called a surgeon (neuro) he scaned my back.  said i need a L4 L5 fusion.  my nerve was piched.  So i had surgery.  the morning of surgery i tended to all my chicken houses.  and cows.  It was hard but i did.  well, it has been 10 weeks.  i am now walking with a walker.  my legs are so week i can't get up with out help.  so we call the surgeon he did more test for ms als .  the only thing he found wronge is high protein in my csf..  but also i have a mass on my chest that i though i got from falling before surgery.  but he scaned it and the dr that read it said it looked like a condrosarcoma.  but we haven't yet been to the surgeon to have a bx.  i am so confussed about all of this i don't know what to do.  could the condrosarcoma be causeing the high protein level?  can't see the dr until friday.  trying to decided whether to go to emory's er for help are just wait until fri do you have any sugestion?
