Are the doctors able to give me any pills?

by Lucie0912, Mar 31, 2008 07:27PM
Hi
I'm 16
My family are close with the local doctors
And if I do go to the doctors I can't let my parents know anything about it
I'm just paranoid my parents will find out I've been to the doctors

I'm not sure what type of pill I'm looking for. I'm just tired of feeling numb, and when I don't feel numb I feel pure anger, frustration, depressed...

Is there a pill that can help? If so, what type do you suggest?

I need to know, can you just get an appointment with any doctor at any doctors surgery? ...
I've thought about anti depressants, but do they all cause weight gain?
That's really not an option for me with my ED.

If you suspect you may be suffering from severe depression and anxiety, you really should get a refferal to see a Psychiatrist or psycotherapist for professional evaluation.

Regular family doctors (MD's) are not trained in the treatment or diagnosis of mental illness. Yes, they can legaly perscribe Psycotropic medications, but you would be wise to see a specialist in mental health.

Most Doctors and Psychiatrist are reluctant to perscribe antidepressant and anti-anxiety medication to any patient under the age of 18. The reason for this is because for unexplained reasons there is documanted proof that AD medications can be very dangerous for teens. Often times in very young people these medications can make matters much worse.

I'm not saying you don't need medication, I'm just saying that these meds are nothing to play around with and people need to make damn sure that they really need them to function before considering treatment with them.

People who take Psycotropic medications that do not truly need them often tend to have disasterous results. These meds should only be taken if it is 100% absolutly nessasary to acheive normal productive functioning.
