Help Me

Well although I have not been formally diagnosed with diabetes my question is. I was admitted to the hospital a couple of months ago and there norma blood tests showed a higher level of glucose so they checked my levels about every hour and after I was released they told me to follow up with my doctor. I did that and he did a hemoglobing a1c test and did not see anything unusual i also purchased a glucose meter just for my own curiosity. Well that's the backround lately I have been what I consider unusually thirsty and urinating more than usual also fatigued. So I was chekcing my glucose levles in the morning after not eating past 12 and they have been in the 126 to 133  range so I went to the doctor and he didn't really want to peg me with a diagnosis of diabetes want' sme to loose weight and exercise more. although I agree with that these symptoms and being really fatigued is wearing me out. just wondering is I should seek out another opinon?

Hi,
Based on those fasting blood sugars you measured of 126-133, you would be diagnosed with diabetes, but just on the borderline. You should certainly put forward a good effort with dietary changes and exercise to lose some weight and improve your insulin sensitivity--this will help decrease the chances of staying diabetic and progressing as well.
Take care.
