No more Topamax!!

The pain clinic prescribed Topamax to help with my lower back pain, but I can't handle the side effects.  I only took half the dose and I feel like I'm in a fog.  I feel hungover and have NO energy.  All I want to do is sleep, but I have a 3 year old tyrant to take care of, so Topamax won't work for me.  Just had to throw that out there.

It does take many weeks to adjust to it. That's why they start you out on a low dose and move you up over several weeks. I took it for migraine prevention and it changed my taste of everything. I hated it but it is good for migraine prevention and anti-seizures pain etc.  I finally adjusted to it, I felt like you at first. I just hate all medication but sometimes you don't have an option.

I don't have any trouble with migraines.  He gave it to me to relax the nervous system.  And damn did it!  His theory is that the L5-S1 disc is putting pressure on the bundle of nerves near it, thus causing them to tense.  I asked the pharmacist about it and he said they are finding that a lot of the migraine medications are being found to be helpful with nervous system issues as well.  I feel like a zombie, though.
