I've had the same problem now since December. I have no idea what the problem is.
In the morning the pain is so intense I feel like removing my left lung and esophagus and throwing it against the wall.
Are both your lungs inflamed or just one?
I think the only way to get to the cause is to see a pulmonary expert. And the only way I’ll get any answers is to have an endoscopy. This way the doc will see what’s really going on.
I’ve been procrastinating about going because they have to put you to sleep when they stick the camera down your throat.
This is why I’ve posted my problem. I am hoping I will get some answers from someone with the same problem.
Had endoscopy that revealed some mild chronic inflammation.
Started on nexium 2X/day and zantac at night.
Did the 24 hr manometry/ph test - revealed I had lots and lots of non acid reflux and high esophageal spasms. The reflux reached as far as my throat!Have never had the typical heartburn - just as you described - heavyness behind sternum and burning with breathing many *phantom* sore throats.Generalized overwhelming fatigue.
Started on baclofen(muscle relaxant) - ever since NO MORE HEAVINESS!!
Started on amitryptoline (for the hypersensitive esophagus)and am finally starting to feel the burning less and less. Have even had a few days that I do not think about my breathing. HOW REFRESHING!
Not all better yet - but if it stays like it is right now I can live with it.Six months ago I didn't say that.Didn't realize how crappy I was feeling until I am starting to feel better bit by bit.
GOOD LUCK!
Your input has given me confidence and a direction that will help me to solve my medical issues. Isn’t the internet great!
Thanks again,
Bob
