What is it?

by Kalahari, Apr 05, 2008 06:34PM
14 days ago I thought I had HSV, following unprotected oral that I received 10 days before that. I had all the classic symptoms - bad pain during urinating, slight clear discharge especially noticeable in the morning, iswollen and nflammed tip of penis (at urethral opening), fever, headache, conjunctivitis in one eye and swollen lymph nodes. But, no lesions or any sign of them.

At that stage I posted on this Board and received some great advice. Thank you.

3 days after the symptoms came on I went to a sexual health clinic and got a swab test (viral culture) and urine test. Was given 1g azithromycin (had no effect). 7 days after that (which was 4 days ago) I got my results back. All negative - for HSV, chlam and gon. But, symptoms persisted so I went back to the clinic. They did the same tests again (swab and urine) and I'm now waiting on the results.

Rational logic makes me think that some of the 'symptoms' are unrelated to my infection. Conjunctivitis - this is going around at the moment and is clearing up with eye drops. Swollen lymph nodes - I noticed they were painful and larger after I did an hour of heavy weights in the gym. Fever and headache - this is also going around at the moment.

My main concern is the continuing burning pain (quite bad) at the tip of the penis when I urinate.  Also, after masturbating last week, a steady stream of new red blood came out of my urethra. It was not mixed with semen, but happened a few minutes after ejaculating. It stopped after about 15 seconds and hasn't recurred.

I've read that Adenovirus, prostratitis and mycoplasma genitalium all have the same symptoms in men.

Any ideas what it could be? Thanks.

I was thinking prostatitis the whole time I was reading this.  Have you had a prostate exam?
