Any thoughts?

I had surgery halloween 2007 to remove a GCT.  The tumor was contained and I was staged at 1A.  My first inhibin test in December was less than 1.  I have since started with symptoms again and had my second testing a few weeks ago.  It came back as a 30 (less than 10 is normal).  Because of the symptoms, I had a CT which showed a 10cm clear fluid filled growth in my pelvic region.  I was told that 30 was "high" and its concerning that its that high in three months.  I have an appt with the gyne onc in about 10 days but was wondering if this could mean chemo now.
Anyone out there ever have this type of experience?

Thanks, Maxadog

I had GCT 1c in early 2006 but have not recurred to date.  You might want to try posting your question on the Ovarian Cancer Network Forum (ovca.net) - http://www.ovca.net/forum/forum.cfm.  They have a granulosa cell tumor thread there and there are many women who've had experience with recurrance.  I do believe typical treatment for recurrance is chemo, but you'd need to speak with your gyn/onc about that. Good luck, Chris P

Thanks Chris.  I'll go out to the site and check out the thread.  Boy, this is all so scary!

Hi Melissa,
You are right about that.  There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to who recurs with GCT and who doesn't.  All we can do is be faithful with our check-ups and scans and keep our fingers crossed, praying we're clear.  There is a lot of support on the thread I mentioned though the forum has been a little quiet lately - hopefully because people are busy living and enjoying the spring.  Good luck, Chris P
