im not quite sure if spinal deteriation would be considered a bone disease or not im taking a shot in the dark.So my question is my boyfriend (age 33)was told he may have spinal deteriation.his symptoms are numbness,headpain,back/hip pain and he also has problems with keeping  erections wich we are thinking could very well be related to his condition.
what are the chances that this is  actually his true diagnosis and what are the treatments and outcome of surgeries for this type of surgery?

Hi, where does he have the numbness?  Does he has degenerative disc disease in his back?  Was he given an MRI and what kind of doctor gave the diagnosis.  It could also be arthritis or some autoimmune condition.  I would get another opinion and make sure tests are run.  From what I have heard, the surgeries on the spine are very risky.  I was told to have surgery on my neck for kyphosis (spine that curves the wrong way) and herniated discs, but I refused.  I will try anything else first.  I did PT and it helped a bit.

Hi Cindee,
Thanks for responding,my boyfriend allready had an x-ray and his doctor told him that it looked like Spinal Deteriation,He is having an MRI this week.the numbess he gets is all over his body but mostly in his arm and hand, he gets pain up and down his back starting in his neck,he gets headachs constantly, the symptom that bothers him the most is the erection difficulty he can get one thank god however he has trouble sustaining it. i was hoping that someone could give me info as to to how long of a recovery process this procedure willl take. i guess we will find out soon ,were just a little anxious.and it would  be nice to talk to someone who is or was inflicted with the same problem.

Jenny, take a look at the Back and Neck Forum.  They have a lot of people on there who have had surgery for similar problems.
