lots of trouble

by brettspike, Apr 07, 2008 07:30PM
My husband was recently hospitalized with pancreatitis and ketoacidosis.  His sugar was 754, triglycerides were 2100 and cholesterol was 600.  Needless to say, he was very sick.  He was in ICU for 4 days.  Within 24 hours of his being admitted, his blood glucose was within a normal range.  He is giving himself 4 shots (novolog b4 meals and lantus before bedtime).  He has been off of work for 10 days.  He is 9 days from the original episode, and he is exhausted.  He can barely stay awake during the day and he becomes tired very easily.  Now, he seems to think he should be up and running, but hasn't his body endured a lot in the last 9-10 days?  Is his exhaustion normal?  He is being very good with his monitoring and insulin and pretty good with carbs.  Is he expecting too much too soon?  Thank you.
