Itchy skin ,driving me mad

Hi I thought I would joinin as I have been going down the same path as other for almost a month into my fourth week of itchy crawling lice like sensations. With this I have bombedmy unit , used two cans of mortein, covered my body 3 times with body lice /scsbbies lotion bought from the chemist. Too embarrassed to tell many people keep a low profile at home mainly engaged to the washing machine and stripping off every garment and showereing and washing xclothess thie minute I arrived home. Settleing down on my lounge off go the itches again, determined I have lice in my coushins not only did I wash the covers but I washed the inserts. Exhausting!! Then it dawned on me the antibiotic eye drops I had been using were sulphur based, Finally went to the Doctor who said I had no lice and perhaps a viral allergy , prescribed me prednisone (cortisome) for 3 days .Felt alleviated for two. Had a few wines  followed by charcoal chicken the next evening and then back to itcching again. Maybe the chickens are injected with sulphur antibiotics?? May be I am becoming totally neurotic. Now I have decided to discard the yummy free chicken and give up nuts as they are making me feel very bloated after the cortisome and stop drinking alcohol. on my once a week night. What is left. Am I to give up glutin what is that all about? Thought Iwould share my journeyu and hope we can discover the answer to thiss. My concern is that the crawling does fgeel kind of electrical and I wqonder if it has to do with too much mercury,.. seafood , fish oil tablets?? or perhaps an unstable chemical reaction with electrolites. Any other ideas????

I have the same issue. The random itchiness starts at the oddest moments. It'll be gone for weeks, even a couple months and then come back for several days, & I haven't changed my laundry detergent or diet. It's usually worse at night. And usually affects my scalp more than any other place, but can happen anywhere. I have psoriasis on my nails but not anywhere else. Does anyone else with this issue suffer from psoriasis?

I'm having this exact problem, but since I've cut out laundry detergent and have even moved recently, I know it's not the wash or the water I'm bathing in. I have this itching sensation all over my body at the most random times - sitting in front of the computer, working out, sitting at my desk, walking around campus, it will just hit whenever. It's especially bad at night, but it doesn't matter if I'm under covers or exposed, I start to get little itchy spots all over my body, but mostly concentrated in the head, shoulders, face, and upper back.

I would really like to find out what is causing this as it's super annoying for both myself and my girlfriend as I can't stop itching all night long, causing me to toss and turn. I even shower and put on fresh, clean clothes and went out and got brand spanking new sheets, same thing. Same as with other people, there are no visible signs, no rash, no bumps, nothing. Any help would be MUCh appreciated.

I finally nailed what was causing my problem. It was laundry detergent after all. I'd been using some form of Free and Clear, like All, or the store brand for years now (and have been free of the itching problem), but several days ago my wife brought home some Tide Mountain Spring. She used it while I continued to use my Free and Clear brand. I started noticing the bug crawling sensations again, but only slightly - just enough to notice. Last night, I washed a load of my clothes with the Tide, and am wearing the clothes today. It's like night and day. I am itching like crazy with the bug crawling sensations all over me, especially on my scalp and facial hair.

Laundry detergent is what I suspected the entire time, it's just that back when this problem first occurred, I was using a community laundry and could not control what detergent other people used. Apparently there's some detergent residue that will stay in the washer or dryer for some period of time afterwards, so even if one does use a Free and Clear brand, they'd still likely be affected. Either that, or my wife's clothes were shedding particles on the couch and bed that I was picking up.

This explains so much - now that I know it's Tide, and possibly other types of laundry detergent for sure.

Hope this helps!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

For how long have you been experiencing this?

As you have posted, these symptoms of itchiness, the crawling ,electrical sensation may be nerve related. As nerve related disorders may present with symptom of burning , tingling, and crawling,it may be a differential in your case aside from an allergic reaction.

I suggest you discuss this with your physician. Are you taking any supplements or medications?

An allergy skin testing as well as evaluation of Vit B6 or B12 levels may help. A thyroid function test to assess hormones may also be helpful just to rule any underlying systemic cause of your symptoms.
