High Rheumatoid Factor/Left Back and Shoulder pains

by Librasapphire, Apr 08, 2008 10:34AM
28 Years. Female.

Left sided shoulder/back pain (between blade and spine-Nice crunching noise on rotation!) - 18 months.
High rheumatoid factor. Normal CRP. Normal ESR. Normal shoulder x-ray. Ultrasound no tissue damage or swelling (though they actually scanned over the top of my shoulder not the bit that hurts - 'it'll be referred pain'. )
Pain worsens on sitting. If sitting for long period I will get 'stuck' at the pelvis area of my back until I stretch it out. I also feels like my left lung doesn't inflate as much as the right.

Seeing rheumatologist again routinely in 4 1/2 months time, on no medication for it though I take ibuprofen like crazy on bad days not even sure if it helps TBH.

Thinking of asking for HLA-B27 though when I mentioned it I was told Ankylosing Spondylitis is mainly a male disease so there seems to be no plans to test me at the moment.

Have had suggestions that pain could be from diaphragm - I do sometimes get an uncomfortable feeling below left ribcage which I have presumed to be my high abdominals overworking because of the shoulder. (?)

Any suggestions/help/advice/similar stories most welcome!

Thanks.
