Please Help

First of all, let me say that I have never, ever been so scared in my life.

I had an unprotected encounter about 4 months ago with a female who claims to be clean.

As much as I want to believe her, what is going on with my is suggesting otherwise.

The first thing that I noticed is that I have red bumps around the roots of my hairs all up and down my thighs.  At first I wasn't too concerned, as I have gotten these before.  But I have never gotten them to this extent.  What began to worry me most was when they apper in the area where my sack meets my leg.  Maybe 1-2 on each side.  They have been here for about a month and a half now, and I just started yesterday using antibacterial soap and Neosporin on the areas.  While I’m hoping that this makes them go away, I’m still scared.  I’ve read through these forums, and some days they make me feel like it’s nothing, while others I’m convinced that I have something.

I also noticed small white bumps on the underside of the shaft of my penis.  They are not painful, and I noticed them for the first time 2 weeks ago.  They only become visible when I stretch the skin, and I found them because I am overly paranoid.

I also got a zit on my lower lip that has been around for almost a month.  I have been able to extract puss out of it from time to time.

While I have read evidence that these things aren’t herpes, due to location, time frame, etc, I am beginning to be convinced that they all cannot be coincidence.  Could one, or all of these things be something (herpes) or perhaps soemthign else.

I should note, that the redness on my legs is spread around, not localized.  I had a soar throat for about 2 weeks, but it was after these were present.  They have not gone away.  I am freaking out beyond and I cannot focus at work, or on anything for that matter.

Dr. Rockoff, I have read through these forums over and over, and while it seems herpres could be ruled out, other thing that I've read are scaring me.

No, you don't have herpes, nor do you have molluscum contagiosum.  The various changes you describe all sound quite unimportant and, yes, coincidental to your sexual contact.  The little bumps under your penis are almost certainly cysts that belong there.  Instead of working yourself into a lather, please see a doctor in person.

Thanks.

It sounds like you need to see a doctor.  Just get everything checked out.  If you don't have insurance, go to Planned Parenthood.  This will ease your mind.  You might have Molluscum Contagiosum.  It is benign and the doctor can get rid of it for you.  You might also have one or both versions of herpes simplex.  Something like 50-85% of the population has HSV and a lot of them have no idea that they have it.  They shed the virus asymptomatically.  You can get these even if you use a condom, although using one will prevent more serious things like HIV, so always use one.  Ask your sexual partner to be checked for all STI's before having unprotected sex in the future.  Here is the thing: if you have MC or HSV, you've got a dermatologist condition in an embarrassing place.  If you got these same bumps on your arm, per se, you'd be annoyed, but not as embarrassed.  Just get it looked at and taken care of asap so that you don't spread it as well.  And, call the girl once you've got a diagnosis to tell her what she might have given you so that she can get checked out (be nice, though - takes 2 to tango).  In the end, it could just be something else that has just gotten worse from you stressing out over it :)  Good luck!

I have read that the symptoms of herpes never last more than 3 weeks (roughly).  How can you explain that I've had these bumps (they are no boils, blisters, or anythign like that) have lasted over a month?  My self diagnosis was folliculitis, can this be ruled out?

Also, I paid money, is there any way that I can get a doctor's answer on this?

What could these red bumps be, and how should I treat them for now?  They are only at the roots of my hairs, and their duration worries me.  Is bacatracin and antibacterial soap my best course of action right now?

Thanks doc.

i have the same problem, theses red dry patches of bumps are showing up on my legs, scalp, stomach, and on my neck and in my lower area. I've had them before but now its more serious, as a child i went to the doctor and they said it might be some rare skin disease, they gave me medicine and pills for it and it cleared up. Then last year as i started to layout in the sun more i noticed the red bumps ... my pictures our on my page , i have no clue as to what this is but its spreading...
