Can osteophyts and disk degeneration in neck be reversed?

I have just been diagnosed with bone spurs and degenerated disks in my neck, upper back. Pain and stiffness in this area have been noticeable since a serious car accident in October, with the pain and stiffness increasing.
Is is possible to reverse bone spurs, to cure the "straightening of the curve", etc.? I am going to physical therapy, but, though it is strengthening, it seems to almost increase the pain levels...
