This patient support community is for discussions relating to lap band surgery for weight loss, complications, finding a surgeon, whether it is right for you, nutrition, recovery, risk, and pre- and post-op issues.
Live in Arizona yet had the LapBand put on in Texas (usually visit there 2 to 4 times a year). A doctor in Az wants $400 for a fill and one of the hospitals wants $350 so I will wait till I go backBack pain - low Back strain treatment to Texas ..... it's free.
Have lost 140lbs so far. It has given me a whole new life!! Would not hesitate to do it again. Just remember the Band is a tool...it is not a cure. Good luck to you!
had lap band placed march 31st 08 lost 28 lbs but the last 3 weeks only 1/2 pound. Had one fill so far. three cc's of salineTransvaginal ultrasound were put in. should I have another fill? it has been 1 month now.
Believe I need a fill as I plateaued last December (4 months ago). No big problem as it gives me time to better evaluate and further improve my eating habits before visiting Texas mid May.
I would think very carefully before going out of the country for any type of surgery. There have been some successes that have been over shadowed by real terror stories. You do not want to be one of the unlucky one's that has to deal with a problem. There was a story about insurance companies not paying to correct problems caused by elective treatment/surgery done out of the country. You might want to check on how your insurance company feels about out of country procedures..
