Pseudotumor

by HElmore, Apr 09, 2008 10:52AM
My 17 year old daughter has been told she may have pseudotumor. Her eye exam showed cloudiness around her optic nerves. She has had her MRI and it came back normal. I have been told that the MRI would rule out a tumor but not a pseudotumor. Is this true?  We have not yet set up the spinal tap, please tell me more about pseudotumor . She has bad headaches everyday. She wakes up crying with them. Her eye Dr.had said we could wait on the test because it will be hard on her, but my Med ical Dr.doesn't think we should and that is why she went ahead with the MRI. What is your opinion on waiting for the spinal tap? I don't want to put it off, because her headaches are getting worse.  Thank you, helmore

You can do some research on e-medine.com.  The spinal tap or lumbar puncture is a critical part of making the diagnosis.  Very important in my opinion.  I don't understand why is has not been done.
