I am almost six weeks post-op, abdominal hysterectomy with everything out. I was having some burning and pain in left lower pelvic area that had went away for about 3 days but then came back during my vacation and i was doing a lot of walking. I also had sex with my husband at 3 weeks (way to early i know) I have talked to a friend who is a nurse and she said i shouldn't be worried as long as it wasn't earlier. As i said all the pain went away but then came back again, but it is getting better now that i am not walking as much since being back home again. anyone else have this problem?

You were told you can have sex at 3 weeks? And this "nurse" says thats fine?  I think you better check with the surgeon.

To be on the safe side, I think you should be checked.

I was thinking the same thing as Madge :-)

The pain doesn't sound normal to me - you said burning pain? I'd see the doctor if I were you.

I had the same thing as you and was told no sex until 6 weeks.  We did at 5 and I felt sore and dry.  Go to your dr's.  Your body is telling you, your not ready.  You might have an infection

I've never known anybody that was told it was okay before 6 weeks.  I'm 2 weeks post op and SHOCKLY it kicked in for me today that I wanted to.  I was VERY CONCERNED I wouldn't have the desire after surgery.  Now....I have to WAIT 4 more weeks!!!  LOL  I would call your surgeon and TELL THEM what's going on.  They are there for you and you need to put them to work they DID get paid, so let them earn it.  LOL

Keep us posted.  Best Wishes for all to be well for you.  Sharon :)

I just wanted to let you know that all is well with me after my "scare"! Actually that was a few weeks back and i did see my Dr for my post-op appt in April and fessed up. luckily i am fine but i would not want anyone to be as stupid as i was!!!! I was concerned about desire also but i couldn't believe how strong it was and still continues to be so! But DONT GIVE IN to temptation , take a lesson from me! Remember to control yourself and just keep thinking its ONLY 4 more weeks!!!!!!LOL How are you feeling otherwise at 2 weeks post-op? My surgery was March 3rd so i am back to work and ALMOST feeling normal. Take care and best wishes.

Isn't it funny how we all have these strong(er) urges to have sex AFTER a hyst?

I am amazed at how much I "want" my hubby... I am 4 weeks post op, and looking forward to three more weeks!

Did you guys also experience an increase libido?  I've read where it's common at first, in post op women, but i sure didn't think it would happen to me!

hugs,
Morrowville

What is that saying, older women make better lovers???? Maybe they mean only the ones who have had hysterectomies!!!!!! Donna write "whoopee" on your special day on a calendar then start crossing off the days! Hope you have a great day! Sabrina                   P.S. Hope i didnt offend any of the younger ladies here!!!

Funny you all mentioned about the desire after a hyster. Gosh it happened to me too! It was just unbelievable! I did wait past the 6 weeks post-op though.

Morrowville - I do have an increase in libido. My surgery was in February this year and I still have the increase. Hard to believe. I read somewhere that there would be a decrease, so I was concerned about it, but I have just the opposite!

You all are very lucky to be having such desire!!! And no offense taken as a younger lady...LOL! I am only 29 and had my surgery 2 years ago, I lost all desire to be with my husband and it is terrible. I keep thinking this is when I should be in my prime, and hoping this side effect will go away. The other symptom is the severe pain I have when trying to have sexual intercourse (even using lubricants).
So KUDDO"S to all you ladies who get to experience the great desire. You are very lucky!!!
Cheers!

I hope you took no offense to what some of us women were saying about our "desires". I really feel for you - you are VERY young to be going through this ordeal :(

Have you thought about taking hormones to help with this?

Ooops sorry! I just noticed and read another post you posted and you were on hormones.
