Individual med insurance for Healthy 24Yrs Old Male NYC

by bluelight007, Apr 11, 2008 03:05PM
Hello,
I am 24 and just started a new contracting position that is better than my last W-2 type employment job . Unfortunately as a contractor there are no benefits. So I've been looking around. NY State is apparently really bad with insurance HMO/PPO prices. If you make less than 25k/yr you qualify for a reasonable plan otherwise your paying 800/mo for Empire BlueCross BlueShield individual plan. Ive been looking online I saw Atlantis for 350. Then was contacted by a consumer health association which appearently is not insurance. I feel lost and need guidance. Can anyone recommend a reasonable insurance plan for a healthy single 24 yr old man in the big city?

Dear bluelight007,

As a contracted employee you should qualify for Atlantis Health Plan HMO or POS Health Insurance plans. I am not familiar with "consumer health association", but you can visit www.ehealthinsurance.com to apply for Health Insurance coverage by Atlantis Health plan. In addition eHealth has licensed representatives who can answer your questions about the Carrier or plan of your choice.

Sincerely,

Amir Mostafaie
