HSV 1 test

by JArnt, Apr 11, 2008 05:36PM
Hey,

FINALLY, after much to do with ill informed Planned Parenthood staff, I decided to Re-Test for HSV. I was informed that the test performed was an old version of the test and that it would not pick up low positives. Great. Not amusing.

Therefore, I would like some advice about my LabCorp. HSV test (HerpesSelect IgG)

HSV 1: 1.3 Low Positive
HSV 2: .91 Negative

Are they correct? I believe I remember as a child that I got a cold sore (one on my lip and that it was really bad). Since then, I don't remember anything happening either on my lip nor down below. Can your body over time get rid of HSV 1 outbreaks? And, can I get it down below as well?

Thanks a bunch for your responses, I am quite prone to worry and suffer from anxiety and have a history of depression so ya, basically I think too much. That being said, I need honest and truthful opinions on this topic.

thanks

You probably have hsv1 - since you recall a cold sore from long ago I'd assume you have it too.  Your hsv2 is negative as it's been ever since your original test you had done.  As HHH told you in his reply on his board - the igm should've never been drawn on you in the first place.
