Am I asleep or awake? Scared and frozen with fear!

by bebango, Apr 11, 2008 06:12PM
Ever since I was 15 I have strange things happen while I sleep, I can remember the first time I had just fallin asleep and I woke up to find myself starring at the corner of my room I had then turned around to find myself floating near the ceiling and I was watching myself sleeping in the bed.. It really freaked me out...
shortly after that I started having (what I think was dreams) I would fall asleep and just at the point of awakness and sleep I would be very aware of  where I was , still in my bed ,my head and body will buzz and i can hear this stronge buzzing noise in my head  then  I would feel a stronge presence of something evil in the room with me..I always get this preception that it's the devil..I'm soo terrified that I won't turn over to see whats there.  I can hear a deep voice talking to me, but I can't make out what it is saying.. I struggle and tell myself to wake up its only a dream I can littlery feel my eyes fluttering and struggeling to wake up.. sometimes the presence that I sence will grab my feet and pull me off the end of my bed.. and I wake up back on my bed..Its so real !! when I do wake up  I'm exhausted and I have to fight myself to stay awake because I'm so scared it will happen again. Sometimes I can't force myself to stay awake and I find myself back in the same position I was just in...what is this? is it normal? Sometimes I also feel the presence when i lay down for bed and I know when It's gonna happen. as soon as I fall asleep.. It always does. sometimes when i feel its gonna happen I tell my husband to watch me and see if im doing anything strange.. I'll try to make myself talk in my sleep to tell him to wake me up.. but Ican't scream while im in this state..Is there a way to make any sense of this?Am I going Crazy?

No you aren't going crazy and I would consult your doctor for some sort of professional opinion. My fiance has similar expreiences, but not as frequently as yours sound (at least he doesn't say they're that frequent). WIth him it feels like he is pinned to the bed and can move or scream and that something is holding him down. Now I don't know if you believe in the paranormal or not, but it could be ghosts/spirits, evil spirits, etc... A priest once told me to say this before bed, "I command all evil spirits to leave this household/property/... right now in Jesus Christ's name". Its helped me feel better when I sleep. You can also be having out of body experiences, where your "soul" is leaving your body. Since you don't know what is happening you get scared and "traped" in between. The presence you feel may be a loved on who has passed or someone else, not necessarily evil. Why they would be grabbing you I don't know. Consult a sleep doctor, spiritualist, and/or physic. I don't think it is anything medically serious.

look up "sleep paralysis"
I have problems with that too.
try changing your sleeping positions and try not to eat certain foods before bed
i found that if I slept on my back it triggered them more
since then I've been sleeping more on my sides and stomach and the episodes would stop, but thats just me... I hope it works for you!

I had a similar experience in the 1980's where I moved into an apartment my husband found and when I tried sleeping, something woke me every night with the sensation of holding me down in bed. I was unable to move any limbs. My husband would be asleep next to me and I would cry for him to help but he never woke up. I saw a black shadow with dark eyes above me. I was terrified and prayed out loud. The shadow never did anything else. I suffered with this for 9months. I started to sleep during the day in my car between classes or my mothers house and stayed awake at night so I would be left alone. I confided to my motherinlaw who then took me to a charismatic healing mass at a local church. They passed baskets of paper for you to fill out with a prayer for healing and they just prayed over each person and over the filled baskets.  When I was to be prayed over, I passed out on the floor. When I woke, I was crying and couldn't stop. The priest told me that all 3 healers had to help me, that a demon was trying to overwhelm me and that it was gone. I never was bothered again. I never believed in such things before this and I'm not sure of what it truly was but am still thankfurll it's done. Good luck and God bless.
